To vaccinate or not????

Many of you know that we stopped vaccinating our kids. We get a lot of people who either disagree or ask questions about it and then their doctor makes them feel bad or guilty and end up giving in and vaccinating their children. I'm writing this post to give you our personal reasons for not vaccinating our children. We respect whatever you decide to do and we know that it is a very tough decision.

We stopped vaccinating our children at first because Luke was diagnosed with PDD at age 2. PDD is on the Autism spectrum and it's symptoms are:
difficulty using and understanding language,
difficulty relating to people, objects, and events; for example, lack of eye contact or pointing behavior, unusual play with toys and other objects, difficulty with changes in routine or familiar surroundings, & repetitive body movements or behavior patterns. Our precious baby boy had all of these symptoms plus more. We were told by a professional that this all could have been caused from vaccinations. From that point on we stopped vaccinating, took him to speech therapy, occupational therapy, feeding group, and also had him on a very strict Chiropractic schedule. That next year I think I cried every single day.... it was awful! After all the intensive treatment he was undiagnosed at age 3. The psychologist was amazed by his improvement and could not believe how far he had come. We were, and are, so proud of him also.

As I researched vaccinations, I found out more and more reasons why they are not safe and actually cause more harm than good. Here are some books I would recommend to read:

What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Children's Vaccinations

A Shot in the Dark

Evidence of Harm: Mercury in Vaccines and the Autism Epidemic: A Medical Controversy

Also here are some links to take a look at:

Jon Rappoport- This guy is an ex-vaccine researcher who is being interviewed:
This link will inform you all about vaccines: http://www.icpa4kids.org/research/children/vac_info.htm

This site contains a lot of information on the MMR and Autism:
I want you to know that whatever you decide is up to you and we respect your decision. We know that it is a very hard decision and that the medical community looks down upon non-vaccinating parents. We pray that God will lead you in wisdom, to decide what is best for your child. At this time we are confident in our decision. YES, it is very hard to take our kids to their annual pediatrician appointment and YES our medical doctor makes me feel awful as she uses scare tactics every time! YES, she does make me 2nd guess myself, but we have decided for now that not vaccinating is the safest thing for our kids. If the medical community can prove that they are safe and effective then we will reconsider. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

We stopped vaccinating when Austin started coming up with weird symptoms similar to those you described in Luke.

We support you guys completely. Our next baby will be 100% vaccine free.

Sandy...
Thank you for all the info. it really interests me. Hopefully, I will have time to research the links you gave :) I just want everyone that reads this to know that it is true that you respect people's choices...I know that you don't vaccinate and you know that we have vaccinated both of our boys, and you have NEVER once made that an issue in our friendship! You're an awesome mommy and friend!
XO,
Heather

I know you have definitely done your research...I have definitely second guessed our decision TO vaccinate and it all comes down to one thing with me:

wouldn't it be horrible if he did get the measles or whatever horrible disease, etc is out there?

I'm pretty tired right now so I'm sorry if I seem delirious but, seriously, the sickness is what I'm scared about. But then again, there are risks of getting sick from the shot not to mention all of the scary, nasty things found in the vaccines.

AND...there's so much (conflicting) information out there on both sides! It's a scary world!
